About this app

JRiver on Android is the media engine of JRiver Media Center with a simplified user interface.

It can act as an audio player for content stored on the device. It also supports most of the network functionality of JRiver Media Center. It can load and play a remote JRiver library.

It can work as a DLNA or UPnP Server or Renderer. It can use its own Library Server to serve media to other device running JRiver Media Center.

Supports most audio formats, including FLAC, APE, WAV, MP3, AAC, & OGG.

Will support video formats in the future.

Now supports Android Auto and Google Voice.

Note that this app is just a player and does not provide any content.

I thought this app would have matured by now. It has not. Basic functionality like transitioning from wifi to LTE breaks playback (e.g. when you leave your garage)... This is the bare minimum of an app. The time lines of songs get messed up where they don't reset between songs resulting in wrong info. Future songs aren't cached so when you lose signal for a second, the tracks skip. Etc. The theming is terible. You cannot set a default library, have to manually load home lib. This is a beta app.

If you want to fight and struggle with your music collection, JRiver is it!I have tried for over 3 yrs to use this app reliably. It fails me almost every single time. All I want to do is play my music collection. This app fights me every single time. I am sorry I purchased it. A complete waste of $$$$. I've had free software that works better. I have tried Windows, Linux variants, and Mac OS. Nothing works right. This app sucks.... UPDATE It's 2024, this app still fails me each time.

I love the desktop version, use it across multiple OS since ver 27. Advantages over the web client include basic subtitles (complex sub formats are simplified, subtitle track switching is absent) and HDR playback. The player notification is legacy. Videos cannot be made full screen. Cannot download content or play network ISOs. Somewhat unstable, hangs or errors often when using remote libraries. It works, not yet comparable to full client, but has improved. Will not work for my usecase sadly.

Thanks. It does switch tracks. Please follow up on the forum. Maybe you're using a filetype we haven't tested.
