-The app navigates you from your preferred point of departure to your destination.
-Search covers all modes of public transport (trains including JR and subway lines, airplanes, taxis, and ferries).
-Provides useful information such as the platform number, station lists, and timetables.
-Search directly from a zoomable interactive map of the Tokyo area.
-Allows you to save up to 50 recently searched routes. You can also see them while offline.
-The Japan Rail Pass mode will show the most efficient route for pass holders.

-This app uses GPS in the background for the purpose of enhancing user experience. You can turn the GPS off from Settings on your device.
-Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.
-At the time of your initial access, we ask users to participate in a survey for the Japan Tourism Agency, which is aimed to enhance tourism experience in Japan. This survey is optional, and you will be able to use the app without answering them.

Ratings and reviews

The app helps navigate Japan. I'm not sure it is as good as the old Hyperdia site, but it works fairly well. Unfortunately, it absolutely eats up my battery. I have to 'force stop' it after every inquiry, otherwise it just continues in the background and drains my battery. I don't have any other apps that are as bad as this one, including my other map apps.

Works great for finding routes to-and-from destination locations. Helps organize everything and is extremely useful. I just wish I could share the itinerary with my wife so we can both edit it in real-time. Whenever she clicks the link, it just opens the Google Play Store. There's no way to redirect to the app. Would be a very useful feature.

Using this for a medium Japan trip, bought the 30 day upgrade. Highly recommend if you're using public transport in Japan. Way better than google maps, gives you multiple routes, allows you to select for if you have certain passes like JR Pass. It even gives you which train car and station exit to use. Trying to navigate the Japanese trains and public transit with google maps or just using diagrams and maps would be very taxing and not something I would want to do. Can't recommend enough!
