Ever find yourself wondering about what goes into the products you use and consume on a daily basis? SmartLabel gives you access to this information whether you’re interested in food, beverage, household, pet care or personal care products, SmartLabel has the information you’re looking for no matter where you are, right at your finger tips.

Using this app, you can either search a specific product using the Product Search function or scan a product’s UPC code or SmartLabel QR code on the package. Either approach will take you to a variety of information, including:
• ingredient definitions
• sourcing practices
• third-party certifications
• social compliance and sustainability programs
• usage instructions
• advisories & safe handling instructions
• genetically engineered ingredient disclosure

I downloaded the app and scanned everything in my pantry and only one product (a can of Progresso soup) was in the database. Apparently Wegmans store brand products and smaller international/specialty brands are not included. Three stars because the app ran smoothly and led me directly to a browser page with information on the single can of soup, but without any data on the vast majority of the food I buy, it's not useful to me.

It has pretty good information even telling what each ingredient in products are. The only problem I see with it is the really loud ping sound it makes when you scan something. And it's like a notification so turning just your sound off doesn't stop it but there is an option to turn it off. There is also links to product websites, although that most likely isn't something anyone would be interested in unless it's a less known brand they're looking for more products from.

On several occasions, I have tried scanning several products that were marked with the smartlabel logo, and the app was not able to find any of them. I would understand if it wasn't marked with the logo...but these were.
