Given that you must have location enabled, must have Bluetooth enabled, and must connect to an online account, I feel this app does not protect the consumer adequately. In addition, I bought the device so that I could monitor my home levels while traveling--the presumed benefit of an online account, duh! But with its BT, you have to be within 50 ft of the device to get a read. Since you have to be home to use this, I recommend getting a cheaper device with a readout right on it.

New app is 500 times better than the old version. The old one would fail to sync, not communicate, and just not work. The new version syncs much better, communicates quicker, and just works. The device is really good and with the new version of the app it's a solid 4. The reason for 1 star off is it still takes a while to communicate and sync, but it has never fails to do so (which the previous version would fail about half the time).

This is a bluetooth connected device. It does not connect to the internet. The app is for your phone to connect directly to the device via bluetooth, yet it unnecessarily requires an internet/cloud account to connect to device. There's absolutely no need to require an account to just get the current readings. I'd not use the app, but there's no other way to get the data as there's no display on the device itself so the app is required. A competitor's device doesn't require an account.
