About this app

Design and build 2D game levels with ease using this powerful and flexible level editor. Whether you're creating platformers, RPGs, or puzzle games, this tool helps bring your vision to life with support for tile layers, object layers, custom properties, and more.

How Does It Work?
At its core, the design process follows these steps:
1. Choose your map size and base tile size.
2. Add tilesets from image(s).
3. Place the tiles on the map.
4. Add objects to represent abstract elements like collisions or spawn points.
5. Save the map as a .tmx file.
6. Import the .tmx file into your game engine.

Features:
- Orthogonal and isometric orientation
- Multiple tilesets
- Multiple object layers
- Animated tiles support
- Multi-layer editing: Up to eight layers for richly detailed levels
- Custom properties for maps, layers, and objects
- Editing tools: Stamp, Rectangle, Copy, Paste
- Tile flipping (horizontal/vertical)
- Undo and redo (currently for tile and object editing only)
- Object support: Rectangle, ellipse, point, polygon, polyline, text, image
- Full object support on isometric maps
- Background image support

Build Anything You Imagine
Mark collision zones, define spawn points, place power-ups, and create any level layout you need. All data is saved in the standardized .tmx format, ready for use in your game.

Flexible Export Options
Export data in CSV, Base64, Base64‑Gzip, Base64‑Zlib, PNG, and Replica Island (level.bin).

Compatible With Popular Game Engines
Easily import your .tmx levels into engines like Godot, Unity (with plugins), and more.

Perfect for indie developers, hobbyists, students, and anyone interested in 2D game creation.

Its a bit of a learning curve but i personally love the app. you do have to find your own tile maps, but they're not hard to find, a quick google search gets you what you need. I use this to make maps for my dnd world all the time. The only thing that would make it better for me would be if i could save them as pictures, but a screenshot does the trick too. Update 6.15.19 They did in fact add in the exporting yo png files so for me this app is perfect and far more customizable than others 6/5

I'm pretty good with this stuff generally but I cant make heads or tails of this thing. The video here has audio but just hear mouse clicks, no voiceover and the in app help menu is no help. Looks like it could be a useful DM tool but I'm just left scratching my head...

I think an export to json would of make the app the most used once we don't have access to computer to use app like tiled map editor, most programming languages have a built-in json parser, but tmx is kinda old school and difficult to use without a library.
