About this app

The application is intended to support students in correctly modeling the electric current. To do this, she links observations made in the real experiment (lamp does not light up/lights up little/brightly, measured current values ​​in the parallel circuit, ...) with corresponding physical model ideas projected onto the experiment by AR. In an intuitive way, this combines, for example, the observation of a brightly lit lamp in the parallel strand of the small resistor with the visualization of a higher current strength there due to faster-moving virtual electrons.

The application overlays a circuit with conduction electron plots and electric potential visualizations (by coloring the conductor pieces according to the electron gas model and using an elevation model, respectively). For quantitative considerations, measured values ​​of the basic electrical variables (current, voltage, resistance) can be displayed on the components. Selected components have also been provided with interior views, allowing interactions of conduction electrons with matter to be observed at the particle level. The app enables the qualitative and quantitative investigation of simple circuits up to series and parallel circuits and combinations of these.
