EDIT: WOW. 5 ☆->1☆. the most unforgivable of sins: requires manual save. seriously??? last time I did that was decade+ ago■ I'm trying to keep track of how many unique words my 2 year old speaks, so this is perfect. this way, i can just have this open and quickly use voice-to-text to put in his full sentences and after a few days get a clear picture of his count, ignoring repeats. this was the first app that advertised this feature in their screenshots (the other 3 i looked at did not).

For use as a simple, basic character counter, probably the single worst thing about this app is startup time, which took about 5 seconds for me — not counting having to tap "+ New Note" in order to finally start typing or pasting text. This app does have convenient "copy" and "clear all" buttons — I only wish they were labeled — and it has dark mode (some text is black on black though when your input is empty or have 0 notes saved). It always displays a count of words, characters, and sentences.

Gets the job done if you have many pages with limited character counts but has a major flaw. If you put your phone down to attend to something else, and the phone goes to sleep, you will lose everything you have written since the last save. A competing app may have far less page capacity. But it saves as you write, which also enables you to go from page to page instantly when a sentence is divided between two of them. This is a bad oversight that needs to be fixed.
