The app is nicely designed and has worked without glitches. On a phone, it's easy to read and pull up footnotes. On a tablet, the verses are presented side-by-side with the footnotes. But it doesn't rotate on my phone and I wish it did; my other Bible app does rotate. I've got an aversion to subscriptions. So, while $10 a year isn't much, I'm not sure I need two ESV Bible on my phone as well as my physical copy of the Lutheran Study Bible.

After using it on two platforms -andriod (phone) and apple ios- the apps sync together well. All my highlights and notes. Unfortunately, I need a subscription for both operating systems, but I can't complain for only $10 a year. I should be giving 5 stars for it for the synchronization, but I am only giving 4 stars cos I need more than 3 highlight options. The Lutheran high school I am called to are discussing on using this app for the students, and we all agree we need more than 3.

I see a lot of value in this even with the subscription, which offers a number of additional features. It is certainly easier to take with me than my physical Bible. The only thing missing is a legitimate audio reading of the biblical text. I tried the audio feature available and it was dysfunctional. When I touched play it would revert back to the previous text that had been "played" And no sound come out of my device.
