About this app

This app provides access to Learning Ally’s library of human-read audiobooks, offering an extensive selection of books students want and need to read, including bestsellers, classic literature and textbooks. Now students have interactive learning tools geared to help them succeed, including highlighted text synced with the audio narration, speed control, bookmarking, highlighting, and note taking.


Learning Ally membership is required to use this app. Learning Ally is for students with dyslexia or other reading deficits who struggle with decoding, fluency or comprehension, who are blind or visually impaired, or who have a physical disability that prohibits them from reading standard print.

While I'm appreciative of the service, as we have long book lists to get through with our homeschooling, I have to grind my teeth just to get through listening to a book. The people reading are usually terrible. Names are butchered, page numbers are read in the middle of a sentence, and one we're listening to now the lady is constantly leaving out words- like her mouth isn't next to the mic or something. One book we read had a new person reading almost every chapter. It's very frustrating.

Learning Ally is great, but it's been bugged making it almost unusable for over a year now. This started with getting a weird error that prevented adding new books to my shelf, but that was fixed and it worked for a few months. The problem now is if I try to add a book to my shelf nothing happens. No error, no crash, nothing. I have learning ally on an older device where this isn't an issue, but using my s21 that I also use for note would be better. Especially since it used to work on this phone

Learning Ally used to be great but it's really gone down the tubes recently. For starters, what was wrong with the old app? If anything, the old app was better then this one. In the original Learning Ally app, you could access your books quickly and easily without having to look at any loading screens. Also, some of the older readers should never have been replaced as they did a much better job than the ones they were replaced with.
