“UGPASS” is Uganda’s UGPass ID Programme designed for Ugandans and Residents of Uganda. UGPASS allows users to leverage their smartphones to register for a securely verified digital certificate, enabling online authentication for seamless and secure access to various e-services. It also facilitates advanced electronic signatures for securely e-signing documents.
UGPASS automates and simplifies managing digital services in mobile devices for users and can be used to:
• Self-Enrollment Options: Supports National ID cards (Foundational ID), e-Passports for Citizens, and Passports/e-Passports for Residents.
• Seamless Authentication: Offers authentication to various smart services using multi-factor authentication(Pin/Face).
• Digital Signature Service: Enables secure, legally binding online document signing using PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) and government-issued credentials, ensuring data integrity, authentication, and non-repudiation for electronic transactions (on both web and mobile).
• Document Vault: Allows users to store identity documents or personal credentials (such as national ID cards, driver’s licenses) in a cryptographically protected format, adhering to international standards for Digital Wallets, including ISO 18013-5 and W3C-VC Standards.
• Document Verification: Verifies the issuer’s details of digitally signed certificates or credentials through a cryptographic QR code embedded in the document.
• Digital Forms: Lets users download, auto-fill, digitally sign, and submit e-Forms from various government and private organizations.
• Signature Delegation: Allows individuals to grant permission to someone else to sign documents on their behalf, ensuring smooth and authorized decision-making.
• EConsent approval: Allow digital consent to authenticate and access various websites and mobile applications, ensuring secure and authorized interactions.
