About this app

Inkframe gives you a structure to start from, saves every word as you type, and keeps your writing on your own device.

It is a plain writing tool. There is no account, no cloud, and no internet permission at all, so nothing you write can leave your phone unless you export it yourself.

START WITH A STRUCTURE
Eighteen writing structures, written for Inkframe, covering social posts, short articles, video scripts and newsletters. Each one is a set of headings with a single line of guidance underneath, so you know what belongs in each section. Delete the guidance as you replace it. Save any draft as your own template and it sits alongside them.

WRITE WITHOUT A SAVE BUTTON
Your text is written to the device as you type and again whenever you leave the editor. There is no Save button because there is nothing to press.

GO BACK
Inkframe keeps up to 30 earlier versions of each draft and you can restore any of them. Restoring keeps the text you are replacing as a version first and offers Undo, so a restore is never a one-way door.

COUNT HONESTLY
Words, characters, paragraphs and reading time, with the counting rules written out in the Help screen. Characters are Unicode code points, so an emoji counts as one. Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters are counted individually, because those scripts do not put spaces between words.

ORGANISE
Collections, tags and five plain statuses: Idea, Drafting, Revising, Ready, Done. Search across titles and text. Filter by status, collection or tag.

PLAN, PRIVATELY
Put a date on a draft and see your month at a glance. It is a note to yourself. Inkframe cannot reach the internet, sends no notifications, and never posts or schedules anything anywhere.

REUSE
Save a sign-off, a disclosure line or any block of text as a snippet and insert it into any draft at the cursor.

TAKE YOUR WRITING WITH YOU
Export any draft as Markdown or plain text to wherever you choose. Your text is written through exactly as you typed it, blank lines and all. Back everything up to a single file, and restore it on another device: Inkframe shows you what the file contains before it writes anything, and a restore that fails is rolled back completely.
