Hello everyone!

If you are a user of the older Insteon for Hub app, are using a Hub 2 (2245-222), and haven’t yet tried this newer app version, here are some great enhancements to know about:

This app is an entirely new experience, redesigned to simplify how you manage your home. Bold tiles, on a dynamic background that changes throughout the day, give you quick access to your devices and scenes. New one-touch actions make it easy to quickly control multiple devices in your home all from the same screen. And adding favorites is now as simple as tapping a single icon.

The app also brings new features to Insteon, including a Schedules view that makes it easier to see what’s happening in your home throughout the day. We’ve also added one of the most-requested features to schedules: sunrise and sunset offsets, so your scenes can occur up to 4 hours before or after the sun goes up or down in your local area.

We’ve added sensor check-in tracking so that if your sensor supports heartbeat broadcasts, we will let you know when it’s time to check the battery or other communication issues.

You’ll also find that everything in the app is faster. From logging in to navigating between screens, you can expect a faster, fluid experience. Statuses display quickly—no more waiting for each individual device to update. You’ll see the most significant improvements in creating and editing scenes. We’ve completely overhauled how we manage scene updates, in many cases bringing the experience down from minutes to seconds (depending on scene complexity).

When I needed to make changes to my system for the first time in over 5 years, I installed this new Insteon app. It seamlessly connected and gave me control of my super old Insteon hub and over a dozen connected devices. Have area with two keypads that each control on/off for relay modules that control overhead lights. Had worked perfectly for months until I added another keypad button in another room, using this app, to do same thing. The keypad buttons all mirrored, but the relay modules would not change state. Removing the scene and reprogramming with this app resulted in the same issue. Removing the scene and reprogramming with the old app fixed the issue and gave me control again. So many bugs!

I've spent all of 5 minutes with this app and am surprised by the poor QA. The new interface design is improved. But, back arrow/settings gear sometimes require several taps to be recognized. It's frustrating to repeatedly tap widgets that do nothing. The dimming slider got 'stuck' at lowest setting and was difficult to unstick to increase brightness. No % shown. Light was shown ON in fav screen, but it was actually OFF. Nice start, but old app for me until this app works better.

What's new

• New email contact manager makes it easier to change email notification alerts.
Fixes:
• Issue related to creating notification alerts where you would get an error message “We are unable to configure alert properly at the moment”.
• Issue with battery-powered devices not able to be deleted when not reachable.
• Issue with scene builder: keypad wired load not able to change ramp rate, 2-wire dimmer not able to turn off when activating a scene, leak sensor displaying “Button B.”
