About this app

SASSLA - Digital Alerting and Comprehensive Risk Management Platform.

Receives the official signal from the Mexican Seismic Alert System (SASMEX), emergency notices and public announcements from Civil Protection.

SASSLA APP gives you personalized information when the seismic alert is activated:

• Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) of seismic waves to your location.
• Approximate location of the epicenter.
• Possible perception in your location (light, moderate or strong).

[SASSLA APP REQUIRES INTERNET CONNECTION]

The Seismic Alert is a warning signal. It allows preventive procedures and actions to be initiated in a timely manner seconds before the arrival of seismic waves that can cause damage.

The Seismic Alert is NOT activated for every earthquake that exists, only when it represents a threat to your location.

TOTAL BROADCAST COVERAGE OF THE SEISMIC ALERT SIGNAL IN SASSLA APP BY STATE:

• Mexico City
• Mexico state
• Morelos
• Puebla
• Tlaxcala
• Warrior
• Oaxaca
• Michoacan
• Colima
• Jalisco

PARTIAL BROADCAST COVERAGE:

• Chiapas
• Veracruz
• Tabasco
• Gentleman
• Guanajuato

DETECTION COVERAGE OF THE MEXICAN SEISMIC ALERT SYSTEM (SASMEX):

SASMEX's detection coverage, with 96 seismic sensors, covers the most active seismic region of the country along the Pacific Ocean and the neovolcanic axis, in the states of Jalisco, Colima, Michoacán Guerrero, Oaxaca and Puebla.

The monitoring system has highly reliable, redundant and resilient electrical, electronic, computing and communication engineering systems to ensure, to the extent possible, continuity and availability in its operation 365 days a year.

ANTICIPATION TIME:

SASMEX considers the opportunity time to be the time interval between the moment the population hears the official seismic alert sound and the moment the earthquake reaches the alerted locality in the seismic phases of greatest intensity. Provides approximately 20 to 120 seconds of opportunity time.

This anticipation time will depend on the distance between the place where the earthquake starts and the location of the user to be alerted. For example, if an earthquake occurred on the coast of Michoacán, there would be an opportunity time of more than 100 seconds for Mexico City; However, cities close to the origin of the earthquake will have shorter times.

INNOVATION AND PRESTIGE OF SASMEX

SASMEX is a 100% Mexican development with modern technology, which through science and engineering of a work group with high experience in telemetry systems, electronics, geophysics, computing, communications and the use of artificial intelligence and advanced computing ; sends the alert notice to the population with the fastest algorithm in the world, implemented in its monitoring, detection and alerting systems; making it the fastest seismic alert in the world.

SASMEX belongs to international organizations focused on disaster risk reduction. It participates in national and international events, conferences, forums, seminars and symposiums of seismology specialists, in addition to sharing information about its operation with specialists from around the world who visit its headquarters in Mexico.

To name a few:

- International Association of Seismology and Physics of the Earth's Interior, (IASPEI)
- United States Geological Survey, (USGS)
- Electric Power Research Institute, (EPRI)
- American Geophysical Union, (AGU)
- Seismological Society of America (SSA)

SASMEX: THE ONLY OFFICIAL SEISMIC ALERT IN MEXICO

SASMEX is recognized as the first seismic alert in the world and a pioneer in the development of seismic warning. SASMEX alert notices are publicly disseminated and free of charge. In addition, SASMEX is endorsed and recognized by authorities at the federal level as the ONLY OFFICIAL seismic warning system in the country.

When it works, it's informative ... just not sure (about) when it doesn't. I've felt tremors, for sure, that never registered. Once I was alerted of an imminent or actual seismic event close by. Most often I'm notified of seismic events far away. I'm waiting, very patiently, to be notified of an earthquake, imminent or actual, in proximity (CDMX). Obviously hopeful that I wont be so notified but, if it's warranted, much rather hear the app's alarm and see the alert on my device.

You must change the strobe light! I hit the test button and it was really confusing. The led light should be just turned on to work as a flashlight. The strobe can cause dizziness and it can affect photosensitive people. You should also add and easier way to turn off the alarm, I had to go to the notification bar and tap a button there. When an earthquake is happening you don't want all that distracting stuff happening. I heard it, now shut and let the led light on untill I turn it off.

I never had a problem with the notifications coming on time, but it's impossible to stop the blaring alarm once it starts and unnecessarily distracting and stressful when you're in the middle of an actual earthquake. Please add the option to stop the sound as well once we acknowledge the notification, if possible. Thank you.
