Centering Prayer is a method of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us, closer than breathing, closer than thinking, closer than consciousness itself. This method of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. Centering Prayer is an ancient method of Christian prayer adapted for modern times by Fathers Thomas Keating, William Meninger and Basil Pennington.

The Centering Prayer application will support your daily prayer practice commitment. Beautiful and peaceful, the app includes an adjustable timer, as well as opening and closing prayer options that you may read before and after your silent prayer time. An assortment of sounds and backgrounds allow you to choose the type of environment you want to create for your prayer time. Brief instructions for learning Centering Prayer are also included.

It is recommended you practice being in relationship with God through Centering Prayer twice a day for 20 minutes to begin with

A revelation. I'm a longtime meditator (and lapsed church goer) with little regard for Christian practices. Until now. This app has opened my eyes to a new experience I never imagined. Nearly every aspect of the contemplative session can be customized (although I'd really appreciate the ability to add my own prayers, opening and closing thoughts, etc.) A wonderful app that can really kick up your contemplative practice.

Finding this app was a natural progression from the mindful meditation I've been practicing. I wanted to draw in my Christian faith and this app fits perfectly. Two years later I still appreciate this app. I would most likely give it 4 stars now however because it seems that some of the opening and closing sounds have been removed and the ones that have been added are way too long. Ultimately making the choices more limited.

I like the various options that the app provides for centering prayer. In the way of improvement, I'd like to see more options and setting the number of opening and closing sounds. I like the option of having music as an opening option. However, I find that the music ends very abruptly as opposed to slowly fading away.

This version fixes important issue with Android 14 permissions and contains several internal improvements and fixes.
We've also updated internal libraries and added support for Android 14.
