GradePlate turns a photo into a letter grade. Point the camera at a restaurant menu, your plate or a package on a shelf: the AI scores what it finds 0 to 100, and GradePlate derives the letter from a fixed band table, so the same score always gives the same grade. No barcode, no database lookup.

THREE WAYS TO SCAN
Menu Mode is a restaurant menu scanner. Meal Mode grades your plate. Shelf Mode grades packaged food and grocery shelves. Shoot a photo or import one from your gallery.

SCAN A RESTAURANT MENU
GradePlate paints grade-colored washes over the dishes it can pin to the page. Pinch to zoom, drag along a long menu, tap a badge to see its line. Below, the dishes it read are ranked by grade and score, each with a one-line summary. Tap a row for its concern, its upside and, where the model was less sure, a prompt to rescan the food when served. Best Pick prefers a full meal, so sides, drinks and desserts stay graded and visible but are not put forward as Best Pick.

Menu Mode returns grades, not calorie numbers — use Meal or Shelf Mode for nutrition. A menu scan is free, costing one daily analysis like any other.

IN MEAL AND SHELF MODE
• Estimated calories, protein, carbs, fat, saturated fat, trans fat, fiber, sugar and sodium
• Specific concerns, specific benefits and a short line measured against the goal you picked
• Scoring weighs added sugar, sodium, saturated fat, ultra-processed ingredients, seed oils and artificial dyes (Red 40, Yellow 5, Yellow 6, Blue 1)
• Meal Mode also shows a processing-level chip and names the seed oils found: canola, soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower

LOG WHAT YOU ATE
Send any Meal or Shelf result to the daily food log: pick servings and meal, see the macros first. The tracker shows the day's calories as a circular total, with bars for protein, fat, carbs and sugar, and steps back a day at a time. Scan history keeps every analysis with a thumbnail, searchable by name. Two home screen widgets add today's average food grade and a one-tap camera shortcut.

YOUR GOALS, ALLERGENS AND DIET
Pick from 8 health goals, 5 health conditions, 7 allergen flags and a diet type; GradePlate folds them in when you turn on health personalization. Flag an allergen and GradePlate sends it to the AI as a hard constraint, asking that a matching item be graded F with an ALLERGEN WARNING in its concerns. GradePlate is not an allergen-safety tool, and none of this is medical advice. Always verify allergens with the label or the restaurant; GradePlate may not catch every ingredient or cross-contact risk. The app ships in 20 languages, and analysis comes back in your language.

PRIVATE: NO SIGN-UP, NO ADS, NO TRACKING
GradePlate works without signing up: sign-in is an optional row in your profile. Scan history, thumbnails, your food log and preferences stay on your device. Analytics, crash reporting and health personalization stay off until you turn them on, the app contains no advertising or tracking IDs, and one button erases everything: cloud record, local data, thumbnails, preferences and consent. GradePlate needs internet: photos go to Google's Gemini models to be analyzed.

FREE FOOD SCANNING, AND PREMIUM
Free gives a set number of AI analyses per day, 5 by default, counted on the camera screen and reset at midnight. An analysis that fails or finds no food is refunded. Everything else is free: all three modes, the food log, scan history, widgets, the health profile and the full nutrition breakdown. Premium removes the daily cap and adds a swaps card that looks up alternative products and links its sources. Monthly and yearly plans renew automatically unless canceled; Google Play shows price, renewal terms and any trial before you buy.

GradePlate gives general nutrition information for educational purposes only. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. AI results are estimates and may be incomplete; you can report any meal or packaged-food result from inside it.
