GroupTrack: Offroad Trail Maps

An off-road trail app for side-by-side, UTV, ATV, dirt bike and Jeep riders.

It holds the trails and the maps on your device, so it keeps working where there is no signal — which is most of where you ride.

Everything works on its own, for one rider: plan a ride, follow it, record where you went. Add a mesh radio when you want to ride as a group, and every rider appears on your map in real time.

Not a route you draw. Not somebody else's GPX file.

Say where you are starting, how far you want to go and how fast you ride. GroupTrack searches your trail network and comes back with several complete options — 74 miles, 77 miles, 68 miles — laid out side by side so you can compare them and pick one.

Each ride arrives described: distance, riding time, and every summit, spring and landmark you will pass, in the order you will reach them. Mile 8, Mountain Spring Peak. Mile 25, Pink Knolls. Mile 30, Red Hill.

It identifies new trails from your ride tracks, then plans routes on them

Every app lets you import your old tracks. They sit on the map as lines you rode once.

GroupTrack does something else with them. Where a ride of yours crosses ground no published survey covers, it becomes a trail — part of your network, searchable, and available to the route planner as a piece it can build with.

So a connector you found three years ago stops being a line in your history and starts turning up in rides you never took, joined to trails you have not ridden yet.

One rider's collection of 88 tracks produced over 1,800 new trails covering 2,400 miles that no public source had. Those rides can only be found here, because no other app knows the trail is there.

Import everything you have — onX, Gaia, anywhere. The more of your riding it knows, the better the rides it can find.

Your whole group on one map, with no cell service

Pair a Meshtastic radio and every rider appears on your map in real time. No towers, no signal, no network subscription.

The lead knows the sweep is still coming. The sweep knows nobody has been left at a junction. Group span, rider count and who is at the tail, on screen, all day.

Everything works offline

Download your state's trail data and satellite or topographic imagery before you leave. Plan routes, follow them, record your ride and track your group with the phone in airplane mode.

Built to be learned in an afternoon

A Quick Start opens the first time you run it: 32 short exercises, each one a tap away from the manual section that explains it. Work through them at the kitchen table and you will know the app before you need it on the trail.

Honest about what it knows

GroupTrack knows a trail is there. It does not know how wide it is, what the surface is like, or what is on it. Check the satellite view before you commit, and check access and ownership the way you would anywhere else.

First run

Setting up a state downloads its full trail dataset — around 30 minutes and a lot of data. Do it on wifi, before the trip, not in the trailhead parking lot.

When the app loads your location, you are ready to play.
