Audio recorder - is an open source application makes an easy audio recording experience.
App optimized for the fastest start as possible and helps not to miss important sound for the user.

There are few recording formats available:
M4A format is encoded with AAC audio codec has good quality and small size.
Waveform Audio File Format (WAVE, or WAV) audio file format standard for storing an audio bitstream on PCs. Stores audio data uncompressed.
3gp is a multimedia container format developed for mobile telecommunication services. Use it if you need to save space.

In settings, select sample rate, bitrate (for M4A and 3GP only) and stereo or mono.
Selected preferences directly affect on record file size.

With colorful themes, customize app looking, and make the experience better for you.

Ratings and reviews

Latest update removed the ability to delete recordings when recording was paused. Now, if you want to record many attempts quickly, you have to finish recording each attempt, then go in the records list and delete each one, one by one. I don't understand why useful functionality would be removed. Please add this feature back! This alone makes my review two instead of five stars.

In search I typed "open source m4a voice recorder", & this app came to the top. Just because it's free, & add free doesn't necessarily mean it's any good, tough it is good, & quite impressive concerning serving my needs as well. Not using mp3 is fine, as it's a larger container file with poorer compression & sound quality, than the smaller & better sounding aac m4a codec files. Wav file inclusion is awesome.I tested the range & limits of the apps application towards my needs, & it's perfect.

Exactly what I was looking for! The app itself doesn't take up too much storage, does the job I need it to and even has a decent amount of features. This app doesn't contain ads, it records well, and it's easy to navigate. It even gives a description of the settings as you select them when you first set it up! I've been trying to find a decent recorder for my phone but now I've found it. Thank you! In case anyone is wondering, I have an Android phone and yes this app works on it! :)

- Updated record panel buttons. Removed ability to delete recorded progress when recording paused.
