Eleza gives a voice to children who don’t (yet) speak.
Your child taps a symbol and the tablet says the word out loud. Keep tapping and a whole sentence appears. It turns an ordinary Android tablet into a speech device, a talker your child carries with them: an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app for nonspeaking and non-verbal children, and for children who struggle to speak, including children with autism, Down syndrome, a speech or language disorder, or childhood apraxia of speech.
Don’t start from zero
Pick a research-based starter board: Eleza Basics with 60 cells, or a board built on the freely published core vocabularies of Quick Core (24 to 112 cells) and Project Core (36). In Eleza Basics the same 18 core words sit in the same place on every page, so each word earns a fixed spot in motor memory. As your child grows, the board grows with them.
Thousands of picture symbols
The whole symbol library ships inside the app: nearly 8,000 pictograms from our own set and from open sets such as Mulberry, Twemoji, Noun Project, IcoMoon and OCHA, always with the creator credited. Type a word and the right symbol is there. You can use your own photos too, from grandpa to your child’s own cup.
A communication board that fits
Giving each word type its own colour is free. With Pro you make folders, move cells around and lock the layout so nothing shifts by accident, and print a board on paper for the classroom, the car or the pool.
The voice
Eleza uses the voice already on the tablet, and you set rate and pitch per child. Want a familiar voice? With Pro you record a word yourself, and your child hears you instead of the computer voice. Recorded words keep playing whether or not you have Pro.
Several children, one tablet
Every profile has its own avatar, its own voice and its own boards, while the symbol library is shared. That works at home, in a classroom and in speech therapy.
Growth
Turn it on and Eleza keeps a record, on the device, of which words your child uses. You switch it on per child, and it is off by default. With Pro, Eleza turns that into overviews you can bring to the speech and language therapist or speech-language pathologist (SLP).
Privacy
No Eleza account, no cloud, no ads, no third-party trackers and no crash reporting. Boards, words, voice recordings and the Growth log stay on the tablet, and we cannot reach them. The app itself works fully offline; the purchase goes through Google Play.
Free, and what Pro adds
Free: speaking, building whole sentences, every starter board, the entire symbol library, one profile and 25 cells you fill yourself. Speaking is free and stays free.
Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. You can try it free for 14 days, once per install: full board editing, the word finder, extra profiles, unlimited cells of your own, board printing, the Growth overviews, your own voice recordings and importing boards from other apps. If the trial ends without a purchase, everything you made stays put and every word still speaks.
Eleza is a communication aid, not a medical device; it does not diagnose or treat any condition. The app is available in Dutch, English and Spanish.
