Jam-da is a tool for playing folk music together, not an archive to look things up in. Capture a tune the moment you hear it, learn it from notation and recordings, and find what you and your friends can actually play together.
Capture a tune in seconds
Heard a great polska at a session? Type the title, hit record while they play one more round, and you have it. Jam-da pulls the notation from folkwiki automatically, so a half-remembered name becomes a tune you can learn tonight.
Thousands of tunes, ready to play
The app ships with a real catalog of Nordic folk tunes — notation, type, and region — drawn from folkwiki and The Session. Browse by type, key, or region. Every tune links straight to Spotify and YouTube so you can hear how it goes.
Notation, chords, and playback
Open a tune and play it back from the notation, or from your own recordings. Chords, key, and the full setting are right there. A tune can have notation, recordings, both, or neither — just press play.
Practise bar by bar
Slow it down and loop a phrase. A cursor follows the notation as it plays, with a metronome locked to the beat, so you can take a tricky turn one bar at a time until it sits in the fingers.
Find what you can play together
Two fiddlers, a quiet moment, and nobody can think of a tune. Mark the tunes you know and Jam-da finds the overlap with whoever you are playing with — in under a minute you know exactly what you can play together.
Share a set with a link or a QR code
Playing for a dance? Build one shared set so everyone has the same version: same setting, same notation, same clip. Anyone in the group can add tunes. Share it with a link or a QR code, no account needed.

Jam-da is local-first. Your tunes and recordings live on your device, not on our servers. Sharing is private, between named friends, never a public archive. No ads. No algorithm. No tracking.
Free to use
Capturing, learning, jamming, and finding shared repertoire are free. It is facts and your own music, and that should never cost. Optional paid storage backs up your library to your own cloud and hosts long-lived shared sets, sealed so even we cannot read them. An export-everything-to-a-file option is always free, so no one can lose their music.
