About this app

Lorecast is a GPS-aware audio guide that tells you the stories of the places you pass — automatically, as you drive or walk. No searching, no tapping: when you approach something worth knowing about, Lorecast starts narrating, like a local guide riding along with you.

WHY LORECAST IS DIFFERENT

• Proactive, not on-demand. Stories begin a few hundred meters ahead, timed to where you are and how fast you're moving, so the tale of a place lands just as it comes into view.

• Grounded, never made up. Every story is built from real sources — Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, historical records — and each one shows exactly where its facts come from. If a place can't be verified, we skip it instead of inventing something.

• Three ways to hear a place. Choose History for the facts and dates, Legends for the folklore, or Quirky for the one odd detail — then tap "tell me more" to go deeper.

• Made for the road. Hands-free by design: keep your eyes up and let the guide do the talking. Prefer to explore on foot? Walking mode works too.

We're launching along Route 66, free while we celebrate the Mother Road. Drive from Chicago toward Santa Monica and hear the diners, bridges, ghost towns, and roadside legends along the way — with a side trip through the Grand Canyon region.

Start a drive, mount your phone, and go. Lorecast follows your location, looks ahead along your route, and plays a short, well-told story each time you reach a point worth knowing. Every story cites its sources, so you can trust what you hear — and check it yourself.
