Meringo Listen is the audiobook player for the listener who has already chosen to own their books. Point it at the files you own, or connect a self-hosted Audiobookshelf server. Bring your files, your server, or both.
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO
If you primarily listen to Audible, Meringo Listen is not for you. It does not decode Audible AAX files and it never will. That's a deliberate posture, not a roadmap item. It does not pull from Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive. It does not have a catalogue to discover books in. It does not have ads, a subscription tier, a recommendation engine, listening streaks, or engagement telemetry. There is no iOS version and there is no plan for one in the next twelve months.

WHAT IT DOES
Three things that aren't in any other Android audiobook player in 2026.
First-class Audiobookshelf integration. Real two-way sync of position across devices. Real offline downloads. Multi-server, multi-library. Conflict resolution when two devices have been listening. The native Android client the ABS community has been waiting for.
A real voice EQ. Ten-band parametric, 64-bit double-precision math, six curated presets tuned for spoken word — including a one-tap Subway preset that pairs an EQ shift with a downward compressor so the narration sits steady when your environment doesn't. Lock a preset to a narrator and the same curve loads next time you start one of their books.
Pitch-corrected speed that still sounds like English at 3×. Meringo Listen uses libsonic — the speech-optimised time-stretch in AOSP, engineered for audiobook listening above 2×, where most Android players audibly fall apart.
