About this app

Amplify EQ is an offline emotional-intelligence simulator. You hold realistic, unscripted conversations with four difficult coworkers — and watch a live sentiment bar tell you, in real time, whether what you just said is winning them over or pushing them out the door.

There is no scoreboard against other players. There is no "right answer". There is just you, one stubborn colleague, and the question every real-world meeting asks: can you read the room?

✦ The four colleagues

• Red — The Dominant. Cuts to the point. Loves numbers and confidence. Hates hedging, vague excuses, and feelings.
• Yellow — The Inspiring. Wants energy, vision, and to be seen. Hates dry data dumps, pessimism, and micromanaging.
• Green — The Stable. Wants gentle pacing and to be included. Hates aggression, surprise pivots, and ultimatums.
• Blue — The Analytical. Wants hard evidence and clean logic. Hates "maybe", "around", buzzwords, and speculation.

Each one reacts differently to the same sentence. Pitch a launch deadline to Red and you'll move the needle by saying "ship Friday, +12% revenue". Say the exact same thing to Green and the meter drops — you just steamrolled them.

✦ How it plays

Pick a persona or one of four scored scenarios (a missed deadline with Red the PM, a sprint estimate with Blue the engineer, and so on). Talk to them like a real person. Their sentiment moves between 0 and 100. Hit 100 and you've won them over. Drop to 0 and they walk out angrily. Run out of turns and you get a partial-credit coaching report.

After every scored run, Amplify EQ gives you a structured EQ report: biggest gain, biggest loss, and persona-specific coaching notes that point out the language patterns that helped or hurt — hedging on a Red, dry tone on a Yellow, urgency on a Green, fuzzy numbers on a Blue.

✦ Built different

The conversation engine is a small language model — Google's Gemma 4 E2B — running 100% on your phone. After a one-time download:

• No internet required. Use it on a plane, on the subway, during a layover.
• No account. No sign-up. No analytics. Nothing leaves the device.
• No subscription. Free, ad-free, no in-app purchases.
• Your chat history with each persona stays on your phone, encrypted at rest by Android.

You can replay the same scenario forever. You can drop into a no-stakes "freeplay" mode and just practice. You can even override the model URL in Settings to swap in a different Gemma variant if you know what you're doing.

✦ Heads-up on the download

The on-device model is about 2.6 GB. First launch downloads it over the OS background-transfer service so it survives screen lock and app backgrounding. We strongly recommend the first run on Wi-Fi. Once it's downloaded, the app never touches the network again. You'll also want a phone with at least 4 GB of RAM and ~3.5 GB of free storage.
