Grid is free and open source, and utilizes the Matrix Protocol for end-to-end encryption so only those you choose know where you are.

Experiencing all the same issues as everyone else. Was so hopeful for this as a replacement for live 360 but it seems this app just needs more attention and effort from its creators. Would love to see: improved overall reliability. not being logged off regularly. not being "offline" much of the time. Geofencing options. Saved locations and group alerts.

Very convenient and straightforward. But, I would like to have a more obvious option to toggle location-sharing. However, I understand that this is a new app, so I'm not too bothered. Way better privacy-wise compared to companies I probably cannot name here.

What this app is trying to do is really cool, and I would love it, if it was reliable. Sometimes it works great, other times it fails to update location for days. I hope it will eventually work all the time, but for now, a good temporary bandaid would be a button that pings one of my contacts manually. You could put a time limit on it if server load is an issue, but this would ensure you can always get the current location. Being completely at the mercy of location auto-updating is frustrating.
