Take back control of your screen time – block distracting apps with real, hard limits.
Stop endless scrolling. Pausify blocks distracting apps so you can focus on what matters.
What Pausify does:
- Set daily time limits for distracting apps like Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and more.
- Enable hard blocking – apps are actually closed when you hit your limit.
- See motivational quotes on the block screen instead of endless scrolling.
- Start focus sessions you can’t cancel for deep work and studying.
- Use schedule-based blocking during work hours, evenings or bedtime.
- Enjoy a clean Material 3 design with full dark mode support.
Parental control mode:
- Set up Pausify on your child's phone with a 6-digit PIN.
- Your child cannot change app limits, disable blocking, or modify settings without the PIN.
- Progressive lockout after failed PIN attempts – 5 tries → 5 min lock, 10 → 30 min, 20 → 60 min.
- All data stays on the device – no cloud accounts, no tracking your child's activity online.
- Works with all features: daily limits, focus sessions, and schedule blocking.
Why Pausify is different:
- 100% offline – no sign-up, no account.
- Zero data collection – everything stays securely on your device.
- Actually blocks apps, not just soft reminders you can ignore.
How Accessibility Service is used:
Pausify uses Android’s Accessibility Service as its core blocking mechanism. When you open an app that has exceeded its daily time limit or is blocked during Focus Time, Pausify detects this and redirects you to the home screen, then displays a motivational quote.
Specifically, the Accessibility Service:
- Detects app launches by reading only the app package name (e.g. com.instagram.android) from window state change events.
- Does NOT read or collect any screen content, text input, messages, passwords, or personal data.
- Does NOT modify your device settings, other apps, or system behavior.
- Does NOT transmit any data to external servers – all processing happens locally on your device.
This is essential for Pausify to work. Without the Accessibility Service, the app cannot detect when blocked apps are opened and therefore cannot enforce your time limits. There is no alternative Android API that provides this capability.
Permissions explained:
- Accessibility Service – detects blocked app launches (reads package name only, no screen content).
- Usage Access – reads your daily app usage time to enforce time limits.
- Do Not Disturb – optionally mutes notifications during Focus Time sessions.
