Don't let your phone run your life. Don't let the algorithms steal your time. Don't let infinite content rot your brain.
Choose your goals and your intentions, and let HammerPhone help you stay aligned with yourself.
How it works
When you pick up your phone, HammerPhone asks one question: what are you here to do? Type it, or tap a shortcut you've saved. Then it gets out of the way.
While your session runs, a small bubble keeps your purpose visible. At the interval you choose, HammerPhone checks in to see if you're still on track. If you said you were reading and you're twenty minutes into a feed, that's the moment you'll notice.
Bind a session to one app
Say "reply to emails" and tie it to your mail app. The moment you drift somewhere else, HammerPhone intervenes without waiting for a timer.
Built around how phones actually get used
• Shortcuts for the things you do often, each with its own session length
• An exceptions list so maps, camera and calls never count as drift
• Resume a recent session without retyping it
• A lock button, for when the honest answer is "put it down"
HammerPhone never blocks apps and never locks you out. No blocklists, no punishment, no streak you'll feel bad about breaking. It asks what you want, then reminds you of your own answer at the moments you're most likely to forget it.
Your data stays yours. No account. The purposes you type and the apps you use never leave your phone.
Accessibility Service disclosure
HammerPhone uses Android's AccessibilityService API to see the name of the app that is currently in the foreground; for example, that you are in a
browser rather than a notes app. That is how HammerPhone notices when you have drifted from the purpose you set for a session, and it is what powers the "Lock device" button on reminders.
HammerPhone does not read your screen contents, anything you type, your
messages, or any data inside your apps. The name of the app you are in
never leaves your device.
Declare your purpose for using your phone. HammerPhone intervenes when you stray
