SHINNEN is a coined brand name inspired by the Japanese concept of 思念 (Shi-Nen). Its spelling was intentionally designed for an international audience.
SHINNEN is an experimental app exploring whether human consciousness — and the act of directed thought (shinnen) — can statistically influence the distribution of physical randomness.
We have ported the experimental design conducted by the PEAR research lab (Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research) at Princeton University over 28 years (1979–2007) into a form that can be run on a single smartphone.
―― Three Modes of Measurement ――
◈ QUICK (free · 5 seconds)
A quick session directing thought toward cryptographic randomness.
Ideal for daily practice and as the entry to deeper measurement.
◈ NORMAL (free · 20 seconds)
A 10-second non-intention baseline followed by 10 seconds of directed thought.
Quantitatively observes the statistical differential from the non-intention phase.
◈ HARD (one-time purchase · 48 seconds)
A rigorous mobile implementation of the PEAR protocol. Uses physical sensor noise (accelerometer / gyroscope) as the random source, not algorithmic randomness.
Composition: 15s baseline → 15s ascending intention → 3s switch → 15s descending intention (three measurement phases fully symmetric, scientifically defensible matched conditions).
Bi-directional differential extraction mathematically reduces device-specific noise.
―― Two Chronicles ――
◈ THE PILGRIMAGE
Your personal best is inscribed alongside walkers from around the world.
World rank and country rank are displayed for each mode.
◈ THE DEVOTED
Honors not the score, but the act of turning toward SHINNEN itself.
SHINNEN INDEX reflects the real cost of practice — measurement time and mental focus.
Even on days without result, the walker is recorded.
―― The Purity of Measurement ――
SHINNEN is not a game, nor a fortune-telling app.
It is a new kind of experience — a place to face the self you do not yet know.
―― Statistical Honesty ――
Scores are standard deviation (σ) values derived from NIST-style statistical tests.
Results beyond 3σ enter the realm considered statistically significant.
Level names are statistical indicators only — they do not imply or guarantee any specific ability or phenomenon.
―― What SHINNEN Measures ――
Directed intention against physical randomness. In the research literature this is called psychokinesis, telekinesis, or micro-PK; in ordinary speech, ESP, mind power, or intuition. The PEAR laboratory at Princeton studied it for 28 years and published no verdict.
SHINNEN claims nothing. It runs the protocol, applies NIST-style statistical tests, and shows you the number.
An ESP test that shows its work.
Quiet the mind.
Direct your thought.
Measure.
In that simple act, something may become apparent.
