TimeToTest is a free, anonymous way to tell recent partners that they should get tested for a sexually transmitted infection.
If you have just received a positive STI result, telling partners is one of the most important things you can do. It interrupts the chain of transmission and gives them the chance to get tested and treated early. But it can also be one of the hardest conversations to have, especially when partners are casual, recent, or you do not have an easy way to reach them.
TimeToTest sends an anonymous SMS on your behalf. The message tells the recipient that someone they have recently been intimate with has tested positive, suggests they get tested, and links them to public health resources. Your identity is never shared.
How it works:
1. Open the app. There is no account, no sign up, no email required.
2. Choose the STI category from a list.
3. Select the recipients from your phone contacts, or enter their numbers manually.
4. Review the message and send.
Privacy by design:
- No accounts, no profiles, no logins.
- Recipient phone numbers are never stored after sending.
- If a recipient replies STOP, only a one-way SHA-256 hash of their number is kept, so we can prevent them from receiving future notifications.
- Your selections are not saved.
- The app is open to recipients in the United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand.
TimeToTest is operated by TimeToTest CIC, a Community Interest Company registered in the United Kingdom (Company No. 17163328). The CIC is asset-locked to Terrence Higgins Trust, the largest HIV and sexual health charity in the UK (Charity No. 288527).
This app does not provide medical advice. It is a notification tool that points recipients toward the public health services in their region. If you have concerns about your own health, contact your local sexual health clinic or a healthcare professional.
