About this app

Lost your phone under a cushion again? With EchoFind you just clap to find your phone, or whistle: it rings, vibrates and flashes its light, even when it is on silent. It works offline, with no account.

No account · Works offline · Free with ads · One-time Pro removes ads

What EchoFind does
• Clap twice (or three times) or whistle, and the phone answers
• Rings on the alarm volume, so it is heard even on silent or vibrate, and puts your volume back afterwards
• A big Stop screen over the lock screen, or a notification with Stop
• Sensitivity from 1 to 5 for claps and whistles, with a live meter and a test that shows what it heard and why a sound did not count
• Flashlight steady or blinking (Android 6 and newer); the stop screen flashes on phones without a flashlight
• 12 sounds of our own, vibration rhythms and a ring length from 10 seconds to "until stopped"
• History of every find with date, time and how it was stopped; mark a ring "That wasn't me" and EchoFind shows when false alarms happen
• Listens again by itself after each find
• Start and stop from the app, a home-screen widget, a Quick Settings tile or the notification
• Auto-stop timer and a battery cutoff to save power; ring even in Do Not Disturb if you allow it
• Backup and restore of your settings and history, dark or light theme, 20 languages

Free / Pro
Free does the whole job: clap or whistle detection, ring, vibration and flash even on silent, the stop screen, sensitivity with a live meter and a test, 3 built-in sounds, ring length and volume, vibration presets, steady or blinking flashlight, 7 days of history, automatic re-arming, widget and Quick Settings tile, auto-stop timer, battery cutoff, backup, dark and light theme.
Pro is one purchase, once, with no subscription. It removes every ad and adds:
• All 12 sounds, a ringtone from your phone or your own audio file, and a rising volume
• Record your own vibration rhythm by tapping it
• SOS, strobe and "same as vibration" flash patterns
• Schedules, quiet hours, "only while charging" and "only when the screen is off"
• Pocket and bag mode
• Learn my whistle and learn my clap, for fewer false alarms
• Stop with a shake, the power button or by picking the phone up
• Full history with CSV export

How it works
1. Open EchoFind and tap Start listening.
2. Put the phone down and go on with your day. A small notification shows it is listening.
3. Can't find it? Clap twice or whistle. The phone rings, vibrates and flashes.
4. Tap Stop. EchoFind listens again, ready for next time.

Permissions and privacy
Microphone: EchoFind needs the microphone to hear a clap or a whistle. It listens only after you tap Start. The sound is analysed instantly on the phone and thrown away. It is never recorded, never saved and never sent anywhere. While it listens, Android shows its green microphone dot, and you can stop listening at any time.
Notification: Android requires a visible notification while an app listens in the background. It also gives you Pause and Stop buttons.
Stop screen: if you allow it, a full-screen Stop button appears over the lock screen when the phone rings. Without it you get a notification with Stop.
After a restart: Android does not let an app turn the microphone back on by itself, so EchoFind shows "Tap to keep listening".
EchoFind never records or sends what the microphone hears, and there is no account. The free version shows ads from Google AdMob and Unity Ads, which receive device data such as the advertising ID (with your consent where the law requires it). The one-time Pro purchase removes every ad. The history stays on the phone, and you can delete everything in Settings.

Good to know: EchoFind can only answer while it is listening and the phone is switched on. Some phones stop background apps to save battery; Settings › Permissions and reliability shows the steps for your phone.
