This app allows users to size residential septic tanks and sumps, whether cylindrical or prismatic, precast or masonry, according to appropriate technical standards.
With just a few clicks, you can determine the minimum width, length, diameter, and height for these tanks, as per NBR 7229/93. It is designed to be used in landscape mode.
On the home screen, you enter the data required for the calculations and the desired external dimensions for the tanks. It contains some basic and important instructions for establishing the dimensions. Once everything is entered, clicking "CALCULATE" displays another screen indicating that the loaded data is OK and also showing other possible parameters, depending on the type of tank, that are important for sizing. This screen has four buttons: SAVE, SHARE, DELETE, and RECALCULATE. The first allows you to save the calculated data in a simple txt file (notepad) in the default memory of the device where the app is being used or in the cloud. The user can choose a file name. The second button allows the user to share the obtained data somewhere like Google Drive (you can choose a folder and a txt file name), Gmail, WhatsApp, or another social network or app installed on the device. The third button deletes the calculated data displayed on the screen. You can choose to delete only one reservoir or both simultaneously. The last button returns to the parameters screen to change any data. This last function can also be performed by pressing the "Back" button on the device where the app is installed.
Returning to the home screen, there are three buttons in the upper left corner. Clicking the INSTRUCTIONS button displays the app's instruction manual and other conceptual information related to sizing. The LANGUAGE button allows the user to choose between English, Spanish, or Portuguese to apply to all application text. The SCHEMATICS button displays structural diagrams showing important technical details of the various types of reservoirs that this app calculates to aid in their more accurate construction.
There are several alert messages informing users when they've forgotten to do something important while using the app or when the information loaded is incorrect. This greatly helps with ease of use.
The app was designed to produce these types of tanks in a minimal size, saving materials and money while ensuring their proper functioning. During development, we received support from Professor José Edson Martins Silva, who came up with the idea for the app.
