Jyotish is Indian astrology, read against the sidereal zodiac - the one measured from the stars rather than from the equinox. A birth moment gives nine grahas in twelve rashis and whole-sign houses, the Moon's nakshatra, and the Vimshottari dasha sequence that divides a life into named periods.

Everything is computed on the device. There is no ephemeris file, no account and no network call.

THE CHART
- Nine grahas: the seven visible bodies and Rahu and Ketu. No Uranus, Neptune or Pluto, because the tradition has nothing to say about them
- Both diagrams: the North Indian diamond and the South Indian square
- Whole-sign houses from the sidereal lagna
- Drishti, one way and whole sign to whole sign: every graha sees the seventh from itself, Mars also the fourth and eighth, Jupiter the fifth and ninth, Saturn the third and tenth

NAKSHATRAS
Twenty-seven lunar mansions of 13 degrees 20, each in four padas, with the lord of each. The one the Moon stood in at birth sets off the whole dasha cycle.

VIMSHOTTARI DASHA
The 120-year cycle with the balance at birth worked out from how far into its nakshatra the Moon stood, mahadashas and antardashas, and the running period marked.

THE AYANAMSA IS A SETTING
Lahiri, Raman and KP. This is not a detail: Raman sits about 1 degree 32 from Lahiri, which is enough to move a graha into the next nakshatra and change the dasha lord. The app lets you choose and says what the choice costs.

ACCURACY
Verification stands on facts outside any ephemeris rather than on a table copied from another program: Spica sits at 180 degrees sidereal under Lahiri by definition, and the Sankranti dates fall where the published almanacs put them. The underlying positions agree with JPL Horizons to about 1.4 arcseconds for the Sun and 2 arcminutes for the Moon.
