About this app

FloodAlert offers you all current water levels and forecasts in one app. It warns you reliably about emergencies as soon as a water level reaches a critical state. This way you can act early to dangerous situations like floods and take preventive measures.
The gauge app supports you in setting thresholds for different water levels with official limit values for relevant water bodies in Europe and the USA.

Rain Alert & Water levels from over 30,000 measuring points
Our high number of measuring points provides you with a complete picture of the flood situation. It also directly influences the quality of the forecasts about future water levels. This enables us to warn you in good time about high water levels, overflowing rivers and critical flood levels. This way, you receive emergency warnings and protection against disasters through our emergency & water level alert app.

Notifications when water levels exceed your personal warning limit
You can easily set one or more threshold values for warnings per gauging station in our emergency alerts app. By setting the warning limit for river & flood levels, an alarm signal is sent to your device as soon as the level exceeds or falls below your individually defined threshold level. This allows you to act early to emergencies such as rain & flood disasters.

Alerting by tones, vibration, screen output and LED flashing light
You can configure your warning signals individually. Choose the alert signal that is most likely to alert you to flood disasters and upcoming emergencies. The alerts of the water gauge & emergency app will help you to prepare for disasters caused by rain or storms. For less critical early warnings that do not require your immediate attention, you can also disable the alarm sound.

Rain radar
Our app’s map has an integrated rain radar, so you can optimally assess the current weather situation. Colour-coded areas show you where there are storms and rain. The colour gradations range from "light thunderstorm" to "heavy thunderstorm" with the colours yellow, orange, red and violet.

Catalogue of measures and flood notebook
Especially with upcoming flood disasters & emergencies it is important to react quickly and correctly. Our action-catalogue is an officially recommended step-by-step guide that helps you to react at the first warning of a critical level. Our emergency alert & river level app is the perfect tool not only for warnings but also for concrete actions to take.

FloodAlert Pro Features
For even more protection, we have integrated advanced features that will help you in case of flooding:

- Forecast of water levels & tide gauges at selected stations
- Receive warning messages as SMS and email for you or your colleagues in the field of rescue services. Another advantage of SMS is that you receive the warning even if you don't have an internet connection at the moment.
- You can set an unlimited number of warning thresholds for water & river levels at all available measuring stations
- Customise your individual alarm tone directly in our emergency alert app for water levels
- Display historical river water levels and gauges of water bodies
- Download historical water levels as CSV file

FloodAlert HydroSOS allows preventive flood protection for citizens, fire departments, companies and water sports enthusiasts based on freely available data!

Its a neat app, but it doesn't search well. I used the gps to find where I am, then did a search of a nearby town and it insisted on going to europe. Then I tried it again and it took me to california. Its just one town over but it chose the longest possible distance. It would make a lot more sense if it used my gps location as the center point to look for other towns. Then after I did a physical search and went back to my location, tall the sites were missing. If I hit the back key I was back in the normal map which makes no sense since there was no indication I was someplace else. Also I would like to know what normal is. I'm seeing rising and falling but without seeing what normal is its meaningless. Also there is no key what the colors mean. I understand red, but not the others. Another thing I really don't like is that warning. You only have that one really loud beep that sounds just like a fire alarm, and could go off in the middle of the movie or library without a good way to shut it up. It was actually deafening. And the only way to change it, even to your own thing is to buy it. On the plus side they include a volume control but you can't turn it off. Even on low its loud. But not as piercing as 100% default. You can see out of date markers, but they don't tell you what the date is. Same with the others, i'd like to know by the minute when this occurred. I'd like to be able to reverse how the date is displayed, it took me a bit to figure out it was backwards.

Hi Mike, I am very thankful for the time you took to give us feedback. We went through all of your points and could already fix some issues like the GPS starting point. The app update is already available. I only have 350 characters to answer here. If you write me an email, I'll answer all of your answers e.g. meaning of colors, volume... Johannes

The app seems pretty good although I've not had chance to test the alert notifications just yet. I suppose only then will I know how useful the app is. One thing that is annoying is it's very easy to accidentally alter the alert thresholds. I wish there was a way to lock them once they are set. Would give 5 stars if this functionality gets incorporated. UPDATE: No lock for alert levels despite this being promised months ago. Reducing to 2 stars due to lack of support.

Hi Darren, thanks for your feedback and update. We are very sorry but we only promised to implement threshold-locking and do A/B tests with it. We did that and the major feedback was that people complained about the extra step of "unlocking". So we reverted the feature and need to think of another solution. Sorry again, Johannes

Love the fact you can have a widget on the home screen to monitor station but the info on that widget isn't always current or the correct station

Hi Mark, thanks for the feedback. Sadly, we have invested an unbelievable amount of time to keep the widgets up to date on all kinds of devices but were not able to achieve this goal. Our suggested workaround is the Reload-button on the widget. I'll look into the issue about wrong stations being called. Sorry for that. Johannes
