About this game

Rune Blocks is a modern block puzzle set in a frozen fjord. You get three pieces at a time, fit them on an 8×8 board and complete whole rows and columns to clear space. When no piece fits, the game locks up. The more lines you clear in a row, the bigger the combo and the score.

The blocks are made of stone and ice, and each color has its own carved rune, so you can tell pieces apart without relying on color alone. The look is a Norse legend-book illustration: a stone slab, an iron frame, falling snow and an aurora in the sky.

HOW IT PLAYS
• Drag a piece from the tray onto the board. A ghost shows where it will land and highlights the lines it will complete.
• Prefer tapping? Tap the piece, then tap the square where it should go. Everything works by dragging or by tapping.
• Full rows and columns disappear. Completing lines on consecutive moves makes a combo worth much more. Clearing the whole board gives a bonus.
• Pieces do not rotate, as in the genre. The random draw always deals three pieces you can actually play, so a round never starts in a dead end.
• A short animated tutorial shows the basics the first time.

QUICK GAME
• An endless classic mode, with a best score saved on your device for each difficulty: easy (small pieces and extra help), medium or hard (big pieces and little help).

CAMPAIGN IN SKARVIK
• 5 stages in the Frozen Fjord, each against a champion who changes how pieces are dealt: Bjarki the Oarsman, Sigrún Raven-Eye, Hallvard Ice-Beard and, at the end, Jarl Ingrún.
• Varied goals: clear a number of lines, break ice blocks, reach a score or leave the board empty.
• Ice: frozen blocks take up squares and keep a line from completing. They only break when a line completes next to them.
• Storm, from stage 3: every so often the wind drops a new ice block on the board. It tightens up to the Jarl's stage.
• Earn 1 to 3 stars: the fewer pieces you use to reach the goal, the more stars, and cleared stages pay coins.

HELP
• Rune bomb: costs 10 coins and clears a 3×3 area (ice included). You start with 30 coins, always visible on screen.
• Stuck? Watch an optional ad for one extra chance per game: the board is cleared in one area and you get new pieces.
• Out of coins for the bomb? An optional ad pays 10 coins.
