update May 2026 - re-downloaded, still crashes nearly immediately, even on new phone with everything updated. app crashes immediately when trying to zoom in or click on anything. clearing cache and reinstall did not work. please fix this vital tool. on android running the latest updates and app version (which hasn't been updated since early 2025)

You may need to update your version of Chrome and Android System WebView. The video below explains how to update Chrome and Android System WebView, which may resolve the issue. Please contact us at fireinfo@gov.bc.ca if the issue persists.

Maps are useless. Can't zoom in on an area or move around the screen. I'd expect a 2024 quality app in 2024, not a 2006 app. UPDATE 2026.04.02 Same nonsense. If you cannot build a functioning app, just forget about it. pure garbage. UPDATE 2026.06.21- the app is up to date, but still doesn't work!! Says "unable to retrieve current location" and crashes. Same thing when I try looking at the website on my android. Just give up.

If you're running into issues with the app, making sure your device is up to date (including Chrome and Android System WebView) often helps. We’ve also created a short Android troubleshooting video you can follow. For additional support, please contact us at FireInfo@gov.bc.ca.

if there's a fire, it shows up on the map, along with fire perimeters, evacuation zones, and information about what they're using to fight the fires with. that's all that it needs to do. it's not flashy or anything, but it doesn't have to be.
