To play the Descent: Legends of the Dark board game, one player must download the free Legends of the Dark app on a compatible device. This companion app determines the setup of each quest, tracks your party's inventory, skills, progress, and resolves combat while telling a narrative story of our heroes braving the exciting forests, dangerous dungeons, and majestic landscapes of Terrinoth. The app also lets the heroes save their campaign, allowing them to complete it over the course of several gaming sessions."

Ratings and reviews

This is a review of the app only, not the full game. The app does a good job of being the GM, with minor randomization so encounters are not deterministic. The music and visuals are nice. The app can be a bit frustrating. 1) You need a tablet to use the app. The text is very small and practically illegible on a phone. 2) It's hard to rotate or zoom, often resetting to the default zoommand orientation by accident. 3) It drains the battery. A session could be 4+ hours and needs to stay charged.

Great updates, last year had lots of bugs that kept crashing the game. Recently, updates solved all those problems, added some quality of life updates in game, and the ability to cross platform save was much needed. The game itself is great and lots of fun. Looking forward to beating it before the expansion is released

It's downloading new assets each time I start the app. Started it 3 times in 5 minutes and redownload new assets 636mb each time... Otherwise works fine and very stable. Thanks Edit: I email support about it and it is a known issue with a near futur fix. I'll come back to re-review it once it's fix Another edit: Assets doesn't download with each startup anymore. The only thing it's seriously missing now is saved files transfer from a device to another.
