House by the Lake is a horror quest game about a teenage girl who began to have terrible nightmares about the same place and about her long-dead relatives. The heroine realizes that she has supernatural powers, understands that what is happening in her dreams is a reality connected with the other world. Her grandmother contacts the girl through dreams. Each dream combines a horror and a quest puzzle, riddles and clues, in the process of which the heroine begins to understand what her grandmother wants from her, what happened and is happening in her terrible house. Ghostly phenomena and strange incomprehensible dialogues gradually form answers to questions like a puzzle. The girl needs to travel through the endless corridors and rooms of the house like a labyrinth, find keys to the doors, collect objects, complete tasks - solve the puzzle of the terrible house. As the game progresses, the heroine becomes unclear whether this is a dream at all or everything is happening for real, or whether the heroine is always sleeping, because when she seems to wake up in her room, very strange things happen. The horror quest in its terrible mystical atmosphere keeps you in suspense all the time, traveling through the endless corridors of an unusual and strange mansion that seems to be invented in the head of a sleeping person. The house became an open door to the other world of ghosts thanks to the actions of the grandmother's rituals, whose curiosity and interest in mysticism and witchcraft led to terrible catastrophic irreversible consequences. This story, like many similar ones, shows the consequences of a person's connection with the forces of other worlds. Throughout history, a person seeking to meet the devil or God always meets very sad consequences for himself.
