A review of the various books of Islamic jurisprudence reveals a vast number of consensus reports transmitted by scholars across different schools of thought. However, some of these reports contain dissenting opinions from other scholars. Furthermore, in some of these legal issues where consensus is reported, one or more scholars may later disagree. Is this consensus valid, or was it never established? And consequently, is disagreement permissible in these matters? All of this requires scholarly study to clarify the correct position. Therefore, it is essential to highlight those issues on which the entire Muslim community agrees—issues on which the scholars of the community have reached a single opinion. These are numerous, praise be to God.
Since the issues on which consensus is reported are numerous, some are unanimously agreed upon as matters of consensus, while others are subject to disagreement. Therefore, it is necessary to meticulously examine these issues—after compiling them—and scrutinize them using scholarly methods. The issues on which consensus has been reported are investigated, and the validity of the absence of dissenting opinions is verified. If a dissenting opinion exists, its validity is then examined.
