The Musnad of Imam al-Shafi'i is a collection of hadiths narrated by Imam al-Shafi'i. It was not compiled by him, but rather compiled by his student Abu al-Abbas al-Asamm, extracting them from al-Shafi'i's books, such as al-Umm and al-Mabsut, and arranged according to the chapters of jurisprudence. The Musnad contains hadiths narrated by al-Shafi'i and considered to be the chains of transmission of his legal evidence. It aims to present the hadiths on which al-Shafi'i based his school of thought, totaling 1,675 hadiths in some versions.
