About this app

Own Your Seasonal Allergies with the Pollen Wise App. Using a robust network of sensors around the country, Pollen Wise Provides up-to-date pollen counts to help users mitigate allergens and avoid seasonal allergy symptoms.

If you have asthma, hay fever or seasonal allergies, knowing what is in TODAY's air is more valuable than knowing what was in YESTERDAY's air. Unlike your current pollen report or app, Pollen Wise connects you with timely information from new pollen sensors. They create reports every few minutes for an hourly average. For the first time, this kind of information helps you make decisions about your exposure to pollen.

Ever-changing levels of pollen can make it difficult to know when you should go outside or when it's better to stay inside. For example, levels can spike on one day at 11 am, drop at 2 pm, then begin climbing again until 8 pm. On the following day those levels could be reversed, but you'd never know without the kind of details that Pollen Wise can provide you because your source for pollen information is based on predictions and yesterday's counts.

If you have better information, it only makes sense to use it. Pollen Wise: What's in your air, when and where...

REVISED 2020-06-06 —— I downloaded 8-10 pollen/allergy apps and this one was my keeper because of its relative accuracy (for my area anyway; YMMV), its privacy (doesn't ask for *any* permissions), and its clear, user-friendly UI. And it gets better with each release. The recent UI redesign in 1.4.0 that features an at-a-glance bar graph of current conditions and forecasts in 2-hour increments is fantastic! Clicking the ">" to view more gets you a line-graph forecast for each allergen that shows 3 days at a time. —— The "How do you feel" journal has been vastly improved the not only let users report symptoms, but also to customize which symptoms you're asked to report. There are a few UX issues (there's a field for entering notes, but it's hard to find), that will likely get smoothed out in the next couple releases. But, the journal needs to ask if you've taken any allergy meds, so it's clear if your symptoms are being tamped down or not in each entry, and there needs to be a way to add entries for a previous date. Also, a calendar view would be great, so users to get an at-a-glance view of trends in their symptoms. —— But more than anything, I'd like an alert feature, so PollenWise could, for example, notify me in advance when tree pollen will get above a certain level. (I'm keeping one other pollen app *only* because it does this, but it's not as accurate as PollenWise).

Hi Rob, thanks for the extensive input! This is a belated reply, but you'll be pleased to know that Pollen Wise has notification settings you'll want to turn on. From the app: click on "More" and you'll see notification settings there. Hope that helps!

This app was initially very good until they switched to a different sensor in my city that is completely inaccurate. I've tried multiple times to get then to fix this but they won't. I received a very sarcastic reply to my email thanking me for pointing out a serious flaw in their system but nothing was done. All they have to do is compare the data from the 2 sensors they have in my area and they will see the glaring difference between them. They won't do this so their app is useless.

This app was amazing for about a week, and then it switched from a very near sensor to very far. No longer accurate, unfortunately, so I had to find another forecaster. Tried sending a message to support team but never got a response. If the sensor problem got sorted out I'd highly recommend, though! The interface is awesome and it's super convenient when working properly!

What's new

Bugfixes Galore! All allergen data in Pollen Wise is provided by our network of sensors. We recently made a few adjustments to how our network of sensors report their data which unfortunately negatively impacted the Pollen Wise experience. This update provides bug fixes to address those data reporting changes.
