Then he discussed this similarity through discussion and study of the text, reasoning, and linguistics. If the evidence was weak, he explained it, and if it was correct, he explained the corruption of their understanding of it, and their distortion of it from its meaning. Ibn al-Qayyim extracted the truth of each sect from its falsehood, and responded to each of the other sect’s sayings with great skill, while pointing out the areas of defect where they were found and the causes of misguidance, and why these people went astray and those deviated, adhering in all of this to the side of justice, fairness, piety, and piety.
