【About Yatsushiro】
Kumamoto has a quarter of the 'Glasses Bridge' built across the country in the past. Most of them were done by stone craftsmen born and raised in Yatsushiro. In the late Edo period, the technology group of the nation's highest stone bridge architecture, which existed in Taneyama Village in Higo (now Toyocho, Yatsushiro City, Kumamoto Prefecture), 'Taneyama Stonework'. Their outstanding skills were needed all over Japan, leading to the successful construction of Kanda Manseibashi Bridge and Tsujunbashi Bridge. Therefore, the eight generations are called 'Stone Village', which produced many 'Master Stone Craftsman'.
It was also recognized as a Japanese heritage in June 2020, and it includes a vast plain, a reclamation project that brought fruits, and a spectacle bridge that supported local traffic.
