About this app

The CBTvr app was created for use in the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) healthcare system to augment and/or support behavioral health interventions for patients.

“Dr. Lauren” (a therapist) guides users through sessions from a virtual office setting. There are 8 CBT sessions designed to teach cognitive behavior skills for mastery of dysfunctional thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Modules (some as brief as 5 min others approximately 15-20 minutes in duration, depending on user’s engagement) include psychoeducation on the interaction of thoughts, feelings and behaviors; understanding antecedents, response, and consequences of behaviors; automatic thoughts; thinking traps; challenging thoughts; challenging behaviors; coping through ‘grounding’; and ends with a review.

The CBTvr app has been developed by the Health Lab at the University of Rochester.
