About this app

Welcome to the narrated driving tour of Yellowstone National Park by Action Tour Guide!

Are you ready to turn your phone into a personal tour guide? This app offers a fully-guided experience - just like a local giving you a personalized, turn-by-turn tour.

Yellowstone:
Experience the raw power and beauty of nature at Yellowstone National Park. This enormous volcanic caldera has captured the American imagination for decades, and you’re about to learn why. Full of awe-inspiring geysers, astonishing waterfalls, and some of the only wild bison and wolves on the continent, this park simply can’t be missed.

Marvel at the 200-foot eruptions from Old Faithful and the even bigger explosions of steam and boiling water from its cousins. Peer deep into the Abyss Pool (if you dare) and follow a boardwalk through steaming hot springs which never freeze, even in the dead of winter! And try not to let your jaw drop too low when you see Grand Prismatic, an immense hot spring which radiates brilliant colors.

Watch herds of bison graze in Lamar Valley and elk plod around Mammoth Hot Springs. And keep an eye out for Yellowstone’s elusive but always regal wolf packs!

Along the way, we’ll give you extra details about everything Yellowstone, from the volcanic formation of the landscape to the corruption and poaching at the park’s inception and stories of the first explorers to trek through this magnificent wilderness. We’ll even dive into secrets you’re unlikely to hear anywhere else, like the story of how Yellowstone’s most resilient microbes brew beer and solve crimes!

QUICK TIPS:

■ Download ahead of time, over data or WiFi.

Road closure in the park prevented us from us from touring the park the way the app requires. The next day we were able to get back on track with the app but it did not always sync up correctly and played items incorrectly. The information provided was good, just at the wrong times, or did not play at all. Overall, a nice concept, but it needs some more work to make it useful.

Very easy to use. The app finds you no matter where you start. Remember to download the app fully on your device before you set off as there is no wifi in the park. The information is great easy to understand and you get advance warning for turn offs to spectacular points of interest. For the money you cant beat it.

Wow, thank you so much! We’re so thrilled that we were able to add so much to your visit to Yellowstone! A great tip to download ahead of time — Yellowstone has NO signal or wifi, so downloading beforehand is critical. We have tours of the other national parks too. Thanks again!

Never was able to use it once we got to the park, bc once you pay to unlock the app, apparently you the have to run the app and have it download 135 Mb of data. And if you only learn you need to do that once you have arrived in Yellowstone, you won't be able to do that, as guests WiFi and cell data streams are so unreliable that the app fails to do that. (I tried 20-30 times over a 36 hr period, and all failed. Ended up buying a print guidebook.) A waste of $ for an app I won't ever need again.

Yes, the tour needs to be downloaded while in data/wifi and national parks have very poor connectivity. It’s a large download simply because it’s a large park and we have a lot of stories to tell — otherwise there would be too much dead air. If you send us your receipt, we’d be happy to issue a refund.
