Four flies. One picnic. A lot of spiders.
PIXL SQUAD is a squad-tactics game in the Cannon Fodder tradition, wrapped in a chunky retro-handheld shell. You drive one fly; the other three follow. Forty-eight missions across six zones, all seeded — everyone's mission 27 is the same map.
NOBODY DIES IN THIS GAME.
Not one thing in it is killed. Spiders get spat at, peppered, jammed and trapped — they run off. Your flies get WEBBED, and a webbed fly is not a lost fly: it is a fly hanging somewhere on the board waiting for the rest of you to come and cut it down. Whether you go back for them, and what it costs to try, is the whole game.
YOUR SQUAD IS PEOPLE, NOT UNITS.
Every fly is named. They earn ranks — LARVA to GENERAL — and rank makes them faster and quicker on the draw. Some become specialists: a BOMBER, a SNIPPER, a SCOUT. Lose one and they go on THE WEB with the mission number they were taken on, and the game remembers. One of you getting home is still a win, but you will feel the other three.
SIX ZONES, EACH WITH ITS OWN PROBLEM.
• THE BLANKET — where you learn the job
• THE COOL BOX — ice you slide on, shade that slows your spit
• THE JAM FIELDS — jam that holds you where you stand
• THE BIN — no light. You only see what is close, unless somebody carries the glow grub
• THE ROCK POOL — a tide that comes in on a clock, and spiders that can swim
• THE PANTRY — everything at once, and the ones you lost are down there
WHAT YOU ACTUALLY DO
• Drive one fly, the squad follows — or SPLIT them and hold two places at once
• Spit, or hold to aim a long shot
• DIG IN for range and a steadier aim, at the cost of being able to run
• Pepper bombs, rushes, bubbles, and sticky traps laid on the ground
• Nine kinds of job: haul the sugar, clear the nest, hold the line, snip the web, raid the den, bring your people home
A HANDHELD THAT ISN'T REAL
The whole game lives inside the PIXL POCKET: a 1990s pocket console that never existed, with a dot-matrix screen, a D-pad and two buttons. Shell themes are free, and they follow you across our other games with a PIXL CODE.
• A daily supply run on a shared board — one map, everyone, every day
• A global campaign leaderboard
• NO ADS. Nothing is locked behind anything — no cosmetic, no fly, no mission.
• There is a tip jar, and a tip unlocks nothing. It is a tip.
• Plays entirely offline; the online parts are optional
