Euchre the way it is played at the kitchen table and the lake cottage: four players in two partnerships, twenty-four cards, five each — and the jacks are the best trumps. Order up the turned card, name trump, go alone for four points, and euchre the other side when they call too much.

FOUR WAYS TO PLAY

Classic — partners across the table, the turn-up and two rounds of calling. Canadian Loner — the dealer's partner can order it up only by going alone. Benny — a joker joins the deck as the highest trump of all. Cutthroat — three players, each on their own.

THE RULES YOU KNOW

The right bower and the left bower, both counted as trump. Stick the dealer, or throw the deal in — your choice. Three or four tricks score one, all five score two, five alone score four, and a euchre gives the other side two. Play to 5, 7, 10 or 11. Defend alone and super euchre are there if your table plays them, and so is who leads to a loner. The rules page always says what your table plays.

A TABLE UP NORTH

The game is laid out on a pale pine table. The score is kept the old way, with a four and a six. Each seat's slip says what it called — pass, order up, alone — and the tricks it has taken. When trump is made, the left bower jumps into your trumps so you see the rule happen. The cards are the classic court pattern. A dark mode turns the lamp off.

PARTNERS THAT PLAY EUCHRE

Three levels. The computer players count the bowers, weigh whose hand the turned card goes to, read what a pass tells them and go alone when the hand is there. On Normal and Hard they play out possible deals before a call and before every card, and Hard plays stronger than Normal. They see only their own cards, as you do.

EASY TO LEARN

Your first hands explain the turned card, the left bower and why a card can't be played. Claim the rest when every trick left is yours. The last trick is one tap away, and there is a how-to-play page and your record: games, wins, calls made, euchres, loners and hands of all five.

PLAY IT YOUR WAY

Three game speeds. Small, normal or large cards. Banjo and guitar music, with separate sound and music levels.

EUCHRE PREMIUM

An advert appears only between hands. An optional one-time purchase, Euchre Premium, removes the adverts and adds two more decks, Two Inks and Soft Colors. It changes how the cards look, not how the game plays.

YOUR DATA

Everything stays on the phone: settings and your record. No account, no sign-in. The advert SDK uses the Android advertising ID; the privacy policy says exactly what is used and why.
