The classic two player card game which uses a standard 52 card deck with ace low and king high.
Players score points by accumulating melds - groups of 3 or 4 sets (cards of the same rank) and runs of 3 or more cards of the same suit in rank order.
All cards in a hand that are not part of a meld are considered "Deadwood". The deadwood count is obtained by adding the values of all deadwood cards with the ace being worth one up to the ten which is worth ten points. All picture cards are also worth ten points.
A player can Knock when their deadwood count is ten or less. If the knocking players' deadwood is less than their opponents deadwood (after any layoffs), they score the difference. If the opponents' deadwood is equal to or less than the Knocking player the opponent scores an "Undercut" bonus of 25 points plus the difference in deadwood.
A player with a deadwood value of zero is said to have Gin. When declared, the player gets a bonus of 25 points plus the difference in deadwood counts.
A player with Gin may opt to continue playing in hopes of getting a "Big Gin" where the eleven cards after the draw also have a deadwood count of zero. The bonus for "Big Gin" is 31 points and the difference in deadwood counts is added to the score.
Scores for each round are accumulated and the game ends when a player reaches 100 or more points.
