About this app

Handwriting is more than a skill. It's your signature, a birthday card, a form filled in without asking for help — small acts of independence that a stroke or neurological condition can quietly take away. ReWrite lets you practise it again, one stroke at a time, calmly and at your own pace, at home.

It guides your hand from single letters to words to whole sentences, with on-screen stroke-order prompts and real vocabulary in your own language — never translated menus. ReWrite is made for adults relearning to write after stroke, brain injury, MS, Parkinson's and other neurological conditions. It isn't a children's penmanship app.

WHY WE BUILT IT
ReWrite was made by a family living with the effects of a stroke. When someone we love had to relearn a skill they'd had all their life, we wanted something patient, encouraging and available in our own language. So we built it — in the UK, for adults rebuilding what illness or injury took, and for the people who care for them.

EIGHT WAYS TO PRACTISE
- Individual Letters — trace each one with stroke-order and direction guides until the movement feels familiar again.
- Numbers — practise 0-9 for forms, dates and addresses.
- Common Words — short, everyday words that join letters into smooth, connected writing.
- Word Builder (new) — choose an ending to complete a real word, then trace it. Practise word-finding and handwriting together.
- Large Letter Practice (new) — train larger, fuller letters. Designed for Parkinson's micrographia and handwriting that shrinks over time.
- Sentences — over 5,000 lines, from simple phrases to real-world writing: dates, addresses and sign-offs.
- My Practice — rehearse your own name, address, or anything that matters to you, with support that fades as you improve.
- Free Practice — a blank canvas to write anything, judgement-free. Nothing scored, nothing saved.

FEEDBACK THAT ENCOURAGES (new)
Every attempt is reflected back gently — Effort, Size and Fluency, with percentages kept optional. The aim is steady, confident practice, not a sense of failure.

What’s new

ReWrite now notices when a practice level has become comfortable. After five strong sessions at the same level, the end-of-session summary gently offers the next step — nothing changes unless you choose it. Also fixes missing Dutch text in the reset dialog.
Updated privacy policy: new sections on purchases & refunds and on contacting us.
