About this app

Locus app offers to help parents of 6 to 16+-year-old children, who feel that something must be done to help their children but who cannot name it. They want to help their children but do not know where to go. We aim to educate, inform, advice, and empower parents to become self-reliant in assisting with their children's needs. Locus is designed in collaboration professionals, including Paediatric Occupational Therapists, Special Educators, Teachers and Educational Consultants, and Psychologists. The information provided is for guidance for the parents and DOES NOT replace further assessment and intervention by relevant professionals. It must be an empowering tool for parents. The activities presented are suggestions, and they are up to the discretion of the parents and the child who want to participate in it. Please do not force an action about which a child shows reluctance and feels distressed.

Locus does not intend to be a substitute for appropriate clinical decision making or to convey advice for any specific individual. The ideas expressed are by no means to diagnose children. Locus is neither complete nor exhaustive and does not cover all conditions/childhood issues like childhood disorders, learning disorders, and developmental delays etc. Parents must use individual discretion at all the time and if in doubt, contact relevant health professionals.

We have made every effort to ensure that the information we provide is accurate and up to date. Still, it should not be relied upon as a substitute for specialist professional advice tailored to your child`s situation. So far, as is permitted by law, we do not accept liability concerning the use of any information contained in this app or referred to in it. Suggested activities in this app are NOT a substitute for therapy. Please contact your local therapists or relevant professionals if there are significant gaps in your child's progress.

1. Your child is healthy physically and has not been diagnosed with any medical/surgical conditions, that have a direct effect on functions of the brain, like A.B.I. (Acquired Brain Injuries), conduct disorders, A.D.H.D., A.D.D., Autism, Asperger's syndrome, etc.
2. The child is not already diagnosed with disabilities under the DSM-V and is not under active treatment.

Important: Always respect your child's fears and wishes. Do not force these activities on a child who is reluctant to partake in them in any way. Activities will be meaningful if practiced regularly daily. Children will participate as per their capability and interest. If the child is showing any signs of defensiveness or distress, please consult relevant professionals like Occupational Therapists/Teachers/Educational Psychologists. Your child is unique. Allow them to experience all those things that other children experience. Be flexible, improvise, and do not feel like a failure.
