About this app

MindfulWork is a calm, minimal home screen that helps you use your phone with intention. It now includes a fully offline parental control mode for families.

A QUIETER HOME
• Text-only home screen with a daily quote and only the apps you choose
• A screen-time ring and a gentle nudge bar above the dock
• A short breathing pause before distracting apps
• Usage insights: hourly chart, top distractions and a focus score
• Per-app daily limits, hidden apps and batched notifications
• Light, dark and monochrome themes

PARENTAL CONTROL, FULLY OFFLINE (NEW)
• Pair a child's phone with the parent's phone using a QR code. No account, no internet.
• The parent sets the rules with a PIN: bedtime, allowed hours, app limits and blocked apps
• Rules move from parent to child by QR code
• The child gets a 1-minute warning, then blocked apps show a "Time's up. Ask a parent." screen
• Phone, Camera and emergency calls always stay available
• Emergency unlock codes and a recovery code for the parent

HOW MINDFULWORK USES THE ACCESSIBILITY SERVICE
MindfulWork uses Android's AccessibilityService API only for its parental control (Child mode) feature. It is not an accessibility tool.

• What it does: when a parent has blocked an app or its time is up on the child's phone, the service detects which app has opened and shows MindfulWork's lock screen in place of that app. While Child mode is on, Android Settings is also kept behind the lock (emergency calls still work) so the child can't switch the rules off. Only the parent can turn Child mode off, with their PIN or recovery code.
• Why: Android has no narrower API that lets a parental control app reliably block a chosen app the moment it opens.
• What it reads: only the package name of the app currently on screen. It does not read screen content, text, passwords, messages or anything you type.
• No data collected or shared: MindfulWork has no internet permission. Nothing the service sees is stored, sent or shared, and it produces no reports.
• Your choice: the service is off by default. MindfulWork explains it on an in-app disclosure screen, and it turns on only after you tap "Agree and continue" and enable it yourself in Android's Accessibility settings. You can turn it off there at any time. On a child's phone in Child mode, it can be turned off with the parent's PIN.

MONITORING DISCLOSURE (PARENTAL CONTROL)
MindfulWork's Child mode is a parental monitoring tool, made only for parents to manage their own children's phones. On a paired child's phone it monitors which app is open and limits app use according to the parent's rules. While Child mode is active, the child's phone always shows a "MindfulWork is active" notification, and the app keeps its normal icon. MindfulWork is never hidden and must not be used to monitor anyone other than your own child.
