Solar Flare shows you what the sun is doing right now. An animated sun grows more violent with real solar activity — serene and golden when the sun is calm, erupting with deep-red flares when strong activity hits — so one glance tells you everything. The app pulls live data from NOAA's GOES satellites: the current activity level, the latest flare, a 6-hour X-ray flux chart, and a live photo of the sun from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. You get a notification when a flare stronger than your chosen level occurs (all flares, M-class and above, or X-class only), and each alert explains what it means for radio and aurora. A 7-day history lists every flare with its class, peak time and duration, and tapping one shows full details like peak flux and the satellite that observed it. Home screen widgets show the current status without opening the app. There are no accounts and nothing to sign up for — the app collects only anonymous usage statistics to help improve it. Useful for aurora chasers, astrophotographers, ham radio operators, and anyone curious about space weather.

Data sources: all solar data comes from official public services of the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center (https://www.swpc.noaa.gov) and NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory (https://sdo.gsfc.nasa.gov).
