About this app

Katana Librarian allows you to connect your phone or tablet to your BOSS Katana amplifier via USB or a Bluetooth adapter (sold separately), unlocking your amp’s full potential!

The free version of the app allows you to test your connection and load the built-in demo patches. A single in-app purchase is offered if you wish to unlock the full feature set, which will allow you to:

- Download patches from your amplifier.
- Modify the patch parameters; includes support for all effect types; the editor also changes in real-time as you adjust the parameters on your amp.
- Access undocumented Katana features like hidden amps and multiple simultaneous effects.
- Organize your patches into groups. Tag your favorite patches, or create a set list for a live performance.
- Use the hotkey feature in combination with a Bluetooth MIDI or HID foot switch (e.g. https://amzn.to/3RqNcDY) for hands-free patch and effect switching.
- Import and export MkI and MkII .TSL files.
- Rename and delete patches.
- Write patches to the amplifier's channels
- Emulate the functionality of a GA-FC pedal (even on a KATANA-50)

What you need:

- A phone or tablet running Android 4.0 or later
- For USB, a USB A-to-B cable (also known as a USB printer cable) and a USB OTG adapter. If your phone has a USB Micro-AB connector, you will need an adapter like this one: https://amzn.to/3eLLGve. When Boss doesn't come through with a simple and easy to use app, this guy does. I love that you can download and share patches, creat set lists, and try different patches on the fly while connected to the amp! It's too bad the boss katana doesn't charge your phone while it's plugged in. Excellent app! Would love to see a free store / webpage be developed.

I'm impressed to have a Spark-like interface with my phone. It would be cooler if it was Bluetooth these days and you could just pair up with the Amp, but that's not relevant to this app. It has a nice sampling of tones in the preset, but they're mostly over processed for my taste... I'm not bagging on the app, just saying that I would prefer some wider range tones that can be used for wider ranges of music genre. They all just seem bottom heavy in my ears for some reason. Fun tho! 👍

Love, love, love this app. Spent $15 total ($10 to unlock to full app -worth it, $5 for the cable to connect to my phone on amazon) and do not regret a penny. The ease of uploading and downloading .tsl files is super simple. The effects and amp types..sneaky or otherwise, are great. It is very intuitive and the control layout is great. I prefer to find a patch I like and tweak away until it fits my tastes. I'll work up to doing my own, but for now this works. Highly recommended for anyone.
